How we choose products

The short version

  • We only feature genuinely handmade pieces from independent makers.
  • We check sizes, materials, reviews and safety before we publish.
  • Commissions and ads never decide what we recommend — and no one can pay to be featured.

1.Our promise

Little Loop Finds exists to help you find handmade crochet that is genuinely worth buying. We recommend products the way we would to a friend: honestly, with the good points and the things worth knowing.

2.Our selection criteria

Before anything makes it onto the site, it must meet all of these:

  • Genuinely handmade by an independent maker — no mass-produced or dropshipped items.
  • Original design, or a pattern used with the designer's permission and credit.
  • Strong track record: a shop rating of 4.7 or higher with recent, detailed reviews.
  • Clear listings with sizes in centimetres, materials and care instructions.
  • Responsive makers who answer questions and handle custom requests kindly.

3.How we research a product

  1. We read the full listing and the most recent reviews, looking for patterns in praise and complaints.
  2. We message the maker to confirm details such as yarn, stuffing, eyes and processing times.
  3. Where possible we order the item ourselves; when we have, we say so in the post.
  4. We compare it with similar pieces at similar prices before deciding if it deserves a place.

4.Safety standards for toys

Age guidance on every toyEvery toy we feature includes the maker's age guidance. We clearly flag safety eyes, long fringe, buttons and bells, and we only call something "safe from birth" when it has embroidered features and no small parts.

5.Keeping posts up to date

Etsy listings change all the time. We re-check our most popular posts every month and every post at least every six months. Prices are always shown as "at time of writing" with the date they were checked, and sold-out items are replaced or clearly marked.

6.Affiliate links & independence

We earn a small commission from some Etsy links and show clearly labelled ads. These keep the site free — but they never decide what we recommend. We choose products first and look for links second, and items that earn us nothing regularly make our lists. Read our full affiliate & advertising disclosure.

7.Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and, for significant changes, note the correction at the end of the post. Spotted a mistake? Let us know.

8.Maker submissions

We love discovering new shops. Makers can suggest their work through our contact page. Submissions are reviewed against the same criteria as everything else, features are always free, and we never accept payment for placement. See our maker spotlights.
