Step 1: Striped Basket Body and Toilet-Paper Opening

Work the standard 56-stitch basket with stripes. Color sequence after the BLO fold round: 2 rounds yellow, 2 brown, 2 yellow, 2 brown, 2 yellow. Create the opening (R13: sc 17, ch 22, skip 22, sc 17) in the current stripe and continue the stripe pattern to the top. Carry unused yarn loosely inside, or cut and weave in the ends.
Finish with a slip-stitch top edge and do the roll fit check.
-
Step 2: Head and Antennae

Head (yellow): Follow the 54-stitch sphere chart. At the final plain round, switch to brown for 2 rounds to form a neck band if desired. Install the eyes 8 stitches apart; embroider a smile and pink cheeks.
Antennae (make 2): Brown: R1 5 sc in MR; R2–R10 5. Yellow tip: R11 inc around to 10; R12 10; R13 dec around to 5, close. Insert a short pipe cleaner only for adult decor; otherwise leave them soft.
-
Step 3: Wings, Arms, Legs, and Daisy

- Wings (white, make 2): Ch 10; around the chain work sc 8, 5 dc in last ch, underside sc 8, 3 dc in first. R2: sc around, increasing at both rounded ends to about 30 sts. FO and block flat.
- Arms ×2: Yellow 12 sts × 5 rounds, then brown 12 sts × 4 rounds.
- Legs ×2 (yellow): 18 sts × 5 rounds.
- Daisy: MR, repeat [ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, sl st] ×6 in white; yellow center of 6 sc in MR. Leaves ×2 using the ch 7 leaf method.
-
Step 4: Final Assembly

Attach the head above the opening, the wings behind the head, and the antennae on the crown. Sew the arms at the upper opening sides and the legs at the lower corners. Add the daisy and leaf decoration to one side. Check that the wing tips do not cover the roll opening.
Finishing & quality check
Use this same finishing order for every design in the collection:
- Block and shape the empty basket, and verify the roll opening.
- Attach the major head/top section, centered over the opening.
- Pin paired parts first; compare them from the front and side before sewing.
- Sew accessories and decorative parts only after the structural seams are secure.
- Insert the roll, adjust the shaping, weave in all tails, and perform the final size check.
Final quality checklist — before you call it done:
- Roll slides in and out freely
- Holder stands without tipping
- Paired parts are symmetrical
- No stuffing is visible
- All yarn tails are buried
- Eyes and decorations are secure
- Finished dimensions are within about 1 cm of target
Care & placement
- Place finished holders on a dry shelf or floor position beside the toilet.
- Keep them away from direct moisture, shower spray, wet floors, and sink splashes.
- Leave the roll opening unobstructed.
- Spot clean only. Reshape while damp and air dry completely.
- Hide all yarn tails inside the work, and reinforce load-bearing attachment points.
- For child-accessible decor, embroider eyes instead of using removable small parts.
